Frozen 2 – a homeopathic surprise!

I had the pleasure of seeing Frozen 2 this weekend with my husband and two older teen boys. One teen boy attended enthusiastically, and one teen boy attended ironically. Their identities will remain a secret to preserve you from our family drama. Sitting in the car on the way home, listening to he-who-shall-not-be-named singing “Into the Unknown”, I sat back, delighted by my own unexpected discovery – the surprising reference to homeopathy! It was Olaf who first talked about a fundamental aspect of the plot in Frozen 2, the memory of water.

Dana Ullman, local homeopath and author of my favorite book “Everybody’s Guide to Homeopathic Medicines” must have also seen Frozen 2, because he recently wrote about this in his recent blog. I was thrilled that another homeopath noticed this reference and took a moment to write intelligently about it for the community. Here are Dana’s words:

“One of the theories for how homeopathic medicines work is called ‘the memory of water.’ To make a homeopathic medicine, a medicinal agent is diluted dozens, hundreds, and even thousands of times at one part medicine and 10 parts water (or 1:100). It is theorized that a ‘memory’ of the medicine persists in the water, and research published in a major scientific journal has confirmed that ‘nanodoses’ of each medicine persist in water even after all of these dilutions.

And because our symptoms of illness actually represent our body and mind’s efforts to fight infection and/or to adapt to stress, there is a certain intelligence and wisdom of our symptoms. By using an individually-selected medicine that has the capacity to mimic the sick person’s symptoms, this homeopathic medicine augments our body’s immune and defense system to initiate a healing.

The new Disney movie, Frozen 2, has storyline that focuses on the memory in water! Here are the words to one of the lead songs from the movie:

‘Where the north wind meets the sea,

There is a river full of memory.

Sleep darling, safe and sound

for in this river all is found.'”

If it works for your family dynamics, check out Frozen 2, and see what you think!

I’m wishing you a wonderful holiday season filled with singing, delightful moments, and ongoing health and well-being.

Warmly,

Alexis
